Car
If you're traveling by car, start from any location in North Aegean and head towards the mainland of Greece. Use the E65 highway towards Thessaloniki. Once you reach the town of Trikala, follow the signs for Kalabaka. The journey will take approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on your starting point. Upon arrival in Kalabaka, follow the local signs to Meteora, which is about 5 km north of the town. Parking is available near the monasteries, but be prepared for some narrow roads and steep climbs.
Bus
For those using public transportation, take a bus from a major town in the North Aegean to Kalabaka. You can find buses from cities like Thessaloniki or Ioannina to Kalabaka. The bus journey from Thessaloniki to Kalabaka lasts about 3.5 to 4 hours. Once you arrive at the Kalabaka bus station, you can either walk (approximately 30 minutes uphill) or take a local taxi to the Meteora monasteries, which will cost around 10-15 EUR.
Train and Bus
Alternatively, you can take a train from a location in North Aegean to Kalambaka. First, take a train to Larissa, and then transfer to a local train heading to Kalambaka. The entire journey can take around 5 to 6 hours. Once you arrive in Kalambaka, you can either walk to Meteora (about 30 minutes) or take a taxi. The taxi fare will be approximately 10-15 EUR.
