In 1945, the Municipal Authority made the decision to demolish the Clock Tower to widen the road. Today, only a fragment of its doorway, embedded in a shop on Arkadiou Street, serves as a tangible link to its existence. While the tower is gone, the legacy of Venetian architecture and the echoes of its history continue to resonate in Rethymno.
