Vakakis Winery, located in Megali Lakka near Karlovasi, is a relatively young winery that has quickly gained recognition for its high-quality wines and commitment to preserving the winemaking traditions of Samos. Founded in 2011, Vakakis Winery emerged despite challenging circumstances, including economic difficulties and historical regulations that favored cooperative wineries. This winery is located 4 km south of Karlovasi, on the road to Konteika village.The winery focuses on producing a limited number of superior wines from rare, indigenous grape varieties, with a strong emphasis on the Muscat grape. Vakakis cultivates its vineyards organically and combines traditional winemaking methods with modern technology to create wines that reflect the unique terroir of Samos. Visitors can tour the vineyards, wine-press museum, and amphitheater. Wine tastings are offered, allowing guests to sample a range of dry, semi-sweet, sweet, and sparkling wines, often paired with local cheeses, tomatoes, and olives.Today, Vakakis Winery exports its wines to several countries, including China, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Serbia.
