Located near the Keri Lighthouse on the island of Zakynthos, the largest Greek flag in the world is a sight to behold. The flag was erected in 2006 by the Liveris family, owners of a local restaurant, hoping to attract more customers. On May 20, 2007, it earned the distinction of being the largest flag by the Guinness Book of World Records. While other countries have since surpassed it in size for a flying flag, it remains the largest Greek flag. The flag's impressive dimensions include a surface area of 670 square meters (7,000 square feet) and a weight of approximately 80 kilograms (176 pounds). A specially manufactured 50-meter (164 feet) steel pole, sourced from China, is required to hoist the flag, powered by an electric motor.
