Discover more about L'ance aux Épines Lighthouse

L'ance aux Épines Lighthouse is a captivating historical landmark on Grenada's picturesque shores, blending scenic beauty with maritime heritage. This iconic lighthouse has safely guided sailors for over a century. The lighthouse is on the southern tip of Grenada in the primarily residential community of L'Anse Aux Epines. Visitors are drawn to the lighthouse for its architectural charm and breathtaking panoramic views of the Caribbean waters. The sight of the lighthouse against azure skies and turquoise seas is mesmerizing, making it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers. The surrounding area has lush greenery and vibrant flora. Informative plaques detail the lighthouse’s past. While Grenada attracts boats of all sizes, it has a surprising dearth of lighthouses. The first was a small beacon built on Fort George at the end of the 19th century, but it has been inactive since 2017. The second was installed at Pointe Saline in 1904. After being decommissioned in the 1980s, the 18-foot lighthouse was moved to the airport for ornamentation. Today, Prickly Point Lighthouse is the only active navigation aid.
