Car
If you are driving from Pacific Lowlands, take Route CA-9 (also known as the Interamericana) towards Cobán. After approximately 50 km, you will reach the town of Cobán. From Cobán, take Route 7 to the town of San Agustín Lanquín. The drive from Cobán to Lanquín is about 40 km and will take around 1 hour. Make sure to follow the signs to Semuc Champey once you arrive in San Agustín Lanquín. The final stretch to the park entrance will be unpaved, and you may need a 4x4 vehicle depending on the weather conditions. There is a parking fee of approximately Q10 (Guatemalan Quetzals) at the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Semuc Champey using public transportation, first take a bus from your location in Pacific Lowlands to Cobán. Buses frequently depart from major towns and the fare is typically around Q50-70. Once in Cobán, transfer to a minibus or shuttle to San Agustín Lanquín. This leg of the journey costs around Q25-30 and takes about 1 hour. Upon arriving in Lanquín, you can hire a tuk-tuk or walk to the entrance of Semuc Champey, which is about 10 km away. The cost for a tuk-tuk ride is approximately Q50-70. Be sure to confirm the schedule for the return trip as services may be limited.
