    The Victorian Shop and Parlour is located on Cornet Street, a short walk uphill from the Town Church in St. Peter Port. From the Town Church, walk up the hill along Cornet Street. The shop is en route to Victor Hugo's residence, Hauteville House.

  • Public Transport

    Any bus route ending at the St. Peter Port terminus will bring you within walking distance of the Victorian Shop and Parlour. From the terminus, walk uphill towards the Town Church and then continue up Cornet Street. As of January 2025, a standard daytime bus journey is £1.60, payable via contactless payment. A pay-as-you-go 'Puffin Pass' is available for £1.15 per journey, with an initial card cost of £4.00.

    If driving, navigate to Cornet Street in St Peter Port. Limited on-street parking is available, including designated 'small car' spaces. These spaces are subject to disc parking regulations, and parking clocks are available for purchase for around £5.50 from various locations. Parking is free, but time limits apply and are enforced. There are four half-hour disc parking spaces for small cars, which have a maximum vehicle width of 1.7m and a length of 3.6m.

The National Trust of Guernsey's Victorian Shop and Parlour, located at 26 Cornet Street in St. Peter Port, offers a captivating glimpse into the Victorian era. This beautifully restored property, believed to be the earliest complete medieval building in St. Peter Port, was purchased by the National Trust of Guernsey in 1983. The building dates back to between 1690 and 1710, with significant improvements made around 1750. Inside, visitors will find a traditional Victorian shop featuring a legendary sweet counter with a traditional wooden till. The shop is stocked with a plethora of items for the home, haberdashery, and creative pursuits, including an exquisite selection of books and cards. Haberdashers will be intrigued by the remarkable array of vintage items, from buttons to lace and textiles. The curved shutters on the bow windows, operated by their original mechanism, are one of only two such sets known in the British Isles. The property was owned by the Le Poidevin family from the late 1870s to the early 1960s. The restored shop was opened in September 1987 by Sir Charles Frossard. The shop also sells an array of traditional gifts, National Trust of Guernsey souvenirs, and locally handcrafted and collector's items. The building also functions as the headquarters for the National Trust of Guernsey.
