Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Skeldon Market, which is a central point in Skeldon. From the market, head south on the main road (East Coast Road) for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Canje River. At this junction, continue straight. You will be passing by local shops and residential areas. After about 500 meters, you will come to a fork in the road. Take the left fork, which will lead you towards New Amsterdam. Continue walking for another 2 kilometers until you reach the bridge over the Canje River. Cross the bridge and keep walking for about 1 kilometer.   If you have access to a bicycle, you can start at Skeldon Market and head south on East Coast Road. Cycle for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Canje River. Continue straight through the junction and cycle for another 500 meters. You will encounter a fork in the road after which you should take the left fork towards New Amsterdam. Keep cycling for about 2 kilometers until you reach the bridge over the Canje River. Cross the bridge and keep pedaling for about 1 kilometer. Follow the signs to State House (Governor House), which is located at 7F2J+8C4, New Amsterdam. This route provides a scenic view along the river.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  From Skeldon, locate the bus terminal near the Skeldon Market. Take a bus heading towards New Amsterdam. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the New Amsterdam bus terminal. Once you exit the bus, walk straight towards the main road and head south for about 1 kilometer. You will see signs indicating the direction to State House (Governor House), which is at GPS coordinates 6.2507748, -57.5189283. The area is well-marked and easy to navigate.
