Getting There

    If you are driving a car, head south on Route Nationale #1 from the center of Centre. Continue on this road for about 30 minutes until you reach Les Gonaïves. As you approach the city, look for signs indicating 'Rte de Descahos.' Turn onto Rte de Descahos and continue for approximately 5 km. Place Pétion will be on your right. Make sure to have some cash on hand for tolls or parking fees, if applicable.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Place Pétion via public transportation, take a tap-tap (shared taxi) from the center of Centre to Les Gonaïves. Tap-taps are usually found at designated stops; just ask locals for the nearest one. The fare is typically around 50 HTG (Haitian Gourde). After arriving in Les Gonaïves, you can either walk to Rte de Descahos, which is about a 15-minute walk, or catch another tap-tap heading towards Place Pétion. Ensure to confirm with the driver that they are going to Rte de Descahos.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Les Gonaïves and prefer walking, head south towards Rte de Descahos from the city center. It’s approximately a 20-minute walk. Keep an eye out for local landmarks such as the main market to help guide your way. Once you reach Rte de Descahos, turn right, and Place Pétion will be a short distance ahead.
