Driving
From the center of Comayagua, take the highway towards La Libertad (Ruta Nacional 57) heading north for approximately 30 km to the town of San Jerónimo. Look for signs to Río Negro and PANACOMA. Turn right onto the dirt road, which is mostly single lane with a few concrete bridges. A four-wheel-drive vehicle with good clearance is necessary to navigate this road. Continue for 15 km to reach the park information center in the village of Río Negro. Expect the drive from San Jerónimo to take at least 30 minutes. Fuel up before leaving Comayagua, as gas stations are limited along the way.
Public Transport
From the central bus terminal in Comayagua, take a bus heading towards San Jerónimo. The fare is approximately 30-50 Lempiras. From San Jerónimo, local transport to Río Negro is limited.
