Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Váctól. Head east on Route 2 (E-77) towards Kismaros. After approximately 15 kilometers, take the exit toward Kismaros. Continue straight on Szokolyai út for about 2 kilometers until you reach the Királyrét Forest Railway station located at Szokolyai út 3, 2623 Kismaros. There is parking available near the station, but be mindful that there may be a fee for parking during peak tourist seasons.

• Public Transportation - Train

  To reach Királyrét Forest Railway using public transport, take a train from Budapest to Vác, which is approximately a 30-minute ride. From Vác, transfer to the regional train heading towards Kismaros. The train journey takes around 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Kismaros train station, exit and follow the signs for Szokolyai út. It is about a 15-minute walk (1.2 kilometers) from the train station to the Királyrét Forest Railway at Szokolyai út 3. Make sure to check the train schedules in advance, as services may vary.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  If you prefer to take a bus, you can catch a bus from Budapest to Kismaros. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Kismaros bus stop, head southeast on Szokolyai út for about 1 kilometer. This should take around 10-15 minutes on foot. Be sure to confirm the bus schedule as services may not be frequent, especially on weekends.
