Walking
If you are already on Andrássy Avenue, look for the nearest landmark such as the House of Terror Museum (Terror Háza) at Andrássy út 60. From there, head southeast along Andrássy Avenue (Andrássy út) for about 800 meters. You'll pass by various shops and cafes. Keep an eye out for the grand architecture lining the avenue. The Hungarian State Opera will be on your left at Andrássy út 22, just before reaching the intersection with Nagymező utca.
Public Transport - Metro
If you're further away from the Opera House, you can take the metro. Locate the nearest metro station on Line 1 (the yellow line), which runs along Andrássy Avenue. For example, if you're near the Oktogon station, board the metro towards Mexikói út. Get off at the next stop, which is the Opera station. Upon exiting the station, follow the signs pointing to Andrássy Avenue exit. Once outside, the Hungarian State Opera will be just a short walk to the left, approximately 150 meters down Andrássy út 22.
Public Transport - Tram
You can also take a tram if you're near tram lines 4 or 6, which run parallel to Andrássy Avenue. Board the tram in the direction of either 'Széll Kálmán tér' or 'Móricz Zsigmond körtér' and get off at the 'Opera' stop. After exiting the tram, the Hungarian State Opera will be directly in front of you at Andrássy út 22.
