Getting There

• Train

  To reach Fő Tér in Szentendre from Budapest, start by heading to the Nyugati Railway Station (Nyugati Pályaudvar). You can take the Metro Line 3 (Blue Line) to the train station if you're not already nearby. Once at Nyugati, purchase a ticket for the suburban train (HÉV) heading to Szentendre. Trains run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Szentendre station, exit the train and follow the signs to the town center. Walk straight for about 10-15 minutes, and you'll arrive at Fő Tér, the main square of Szentendre, where you'll find cafes, shops, and beautiful architecture.

• Bus

  From Budapest, you can also take a bus to Szentendre. Start at the Árpád híd station, which is accessible via Metro Line 3 (Blue Line). At Árpád híd, find the bus stop for the 5 or 118 bus heading to Szentendre. Make sure to check the display for the correct bus number, as they may change. The bus ride will take about 50 minutes. When you arrive in Szentendre, get off at the main bus terminal (Autóbusz-állomás). From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Fő Tér. Just head straight towards the center of town, and you'll find the square bustling with activity.

• Boat

  For a scenic route, consider taking a boat from Budapest to Szentendre. Head to the Vigadó tér or Jászai Mari tér ferry terminal on the Pest side of the Danube River. Purchase a ticket for the boat service heading to Szentendre, which is operated by Mahart PassNave. The boat ride is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, offering stunning views of the river and surrounding areas. Once you arrive at the Szentendre dock, it's a short 5-minute walk to Fő Tér. Just follow the signs leading into the town, and you'll find yourself at the main square filled with art, culture, and dining options.
