Exploring the Charming Streets of Szentendre

Getting There

• Train

  To reach Szentendre from Budapest, start by making your way to the Nyugati Pályaudvar (Nyugati Railway Station). You can take the Metro Line 3 (blue line) to the 'Nyugati' stop. Once at Nyugati Pályaudvar, purchase a ticket for the suburban train (HÉV) to Szentendre. Trains typically depart every 30 minutes; be sure to check the schedule posted at the station. The train journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Szentendre station, exit the station and follow the signs towards the town center, which is about a 10-minute walk.

• Bus

  You can also reach Szentendre by taking a bus from Budapest. Head to the Árpád híd bus station, which you can reach via Metro Line 3 (blue line) to 'Árpád híd' stop. At the bus terminal, find the bus that goes to Szentendre, usually bus number 26. Buses run frequently, and the ride will take around 50 minutes. When you arrive in Szentendre, follow the signs to the town center, which is a short walk away.

• Boat

  For a scenic route, consider taking a boat from Budapest to Szentendre. Head to the Vigadó tér dock on the Pest side of the Danube River. You can reach this by taking Metro Line 1 (yellow line) to 'Vigadó tér' or by walking along the river. Purchase a ticket for the boat to Szentendre at the dock. The boat ride takes about 1 hour and offers beautiful views of the river and surrounding areas. Once you arrive at the Szentendre dock, follow the pathways leading into the town center, which is just a short walk away.
