Train
From Budapest, take the train from Nyugati Railway Station (Nyugati Pályaudvar). Board a train heading towards Vác or Szob. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Visegrád station (Visegrád, HÉV), exit the station and follow the signs to the bus stop. Take the local bus (Bus No. 11) towards Várhegy. The bus ride will take about 10 minutes. Get off at the Várhegy stop, and from there, it’s a short walk to Visegrád Castle. The castle is located on a hill, so be prepared for a bit of a hike.
Bus
From Budapest, head to the Árpád híd bus station. Take the bus number 20E or 30 towards Szentendre. Get off at the Szentendre stop and transfer to a bus heading to Visegrád (Bus No. 11). This bus will take you directly to Várhegy. Once you arrive at the Várhegy stop, follow the signs to Visegrád Castle, which is a short walk uphill.
Boat
Start at the Danube River in Budapest (e.g., from the Vigadó Square or Jászai Mari Square). Take a boat cruise along the Danube to Visegrád. The boat ride offers scenic views and takes about 2 hours, depending on the service. Once you arrive at Visegrád's dock, you can either walk up the hill to the castle or take a local taxi if available.
