    History and Foundations

Established in 1996 on Etyek's Öreghegy, or Old Hill, Etyeki Kúria began with two hectares and quickly rose as a leader in the Etyek-Budai wine region. Pioneering Pinot Noir for still reds, it now spans 54 hectares in Etyek-Budai and Sopron, cultivating Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Kékfrankos under winemaker Sándor Mérész.[1][5]

    Vineyards and Winemaking

Etyek's cool climate and calcareous soils yield zesty whites akin to Burgundy or Champagne. The winery produces elegant sparklers via traditional methods, crisp whites, rosés and mature reds. A 2011-2013 expansion introduced gravity-flow processing in an underground facility for sustainable production.[1][3]

    Architecture and Design

The 2013 winery, designed by BORD Architectural Studio, integrates modern concrete and glass into the hilly vineyards, earning 'Most Beautiful Wine Estate 2022'. Partly subterranean, it minimizes energy use while preserving the landscape. Labels feature Swabish embroidery motifs.[1][4]

    Visitor Experiences

Guests enjoy wine tastings, tours and the wine bar terrace overlooking vines. Unique venues host weddings, corporate events and private gatherings. Year-round access includes winter igloos. Proximity to Budapest makes it ideal for day trips.[2][5]

    Sustainability and Future

Committed to low-impact practices, the design leverages natural insulation and gravity. Part of the Etyeki Pezsgő PDO initiative, it revives sparkling wine heritage from the 19th century, promising high-quality bottle-fermented wines.[1][5]
