Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Csallóköz, head towards the town of Mad, Slovakia. You will need to cross the border into Slovakia. Follow Route 63 north until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Route 573, which will lead you directly to Mad. Once in Mad, look for signs directing you to Žitný ostrov. The island is located near the coordinates 47.95° N latitude and 17.65° E longitude, just off the coast. Parking may be limited, so be prepared to find a spot nearby.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Žitný ostrov by public transportation, you can take a bus from Csallóköz to the town of Mad. Look for the bus service that operates on this route; it typically departs from the main bus station in Csallóköz. The journey is approximately 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive in Mad, you may need to walk to the island, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return times, as services may be limited.

  For the more adventurous travelers, consider biking to Žitný ostrov. From the central area of Csallóköz, head towards Mad via the scenic bike paths that run along the river.
