Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards the village of Hollókő. Use the address Béke út 2, 3176 Hollókő as your destination in your GPS. From Cserehát, take the main road towards the north-east until you reach the intersection with Route 21. Continue on Route 21 until you reach Hollókő. Once in Hollókő, follow the signs towards the Kelet-cserháti Protected Area. Parking is available at the site, and there are no parking fees.
Public Transportation
For those opting for public transportation, check the local bus schedules for services from major towns in Cserehát to Hollókő. You will likely need to take a bus to the nearest larger town such as Salgótarján or Mátraverebély and then transfer to a local bus that goes to Hollókő. The bus fare is approximately 800-1200 HUF one way, depending on your starting point. Upon arrival at the Hollókő bus stop, it’s a short walk to the Kelet-cserháti Protected Area, following the signs along Béke út.
Walking
If you are already in Hollókő, you can easily walk to the Kelet-cserháti Protected Area. From the center of the village, head towards Béke út, which is well-marked. The walk should take about 15-20 minutes, and it is a pleasant stroll through the village and into the protected area. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can vary.
Bicycle
For a more adventurous option, consider biking to the Kelet-cserháti Protected Area. There are bike rental services in Hollókő, or you can bring your own bike. Follow the local roads leading to Béke út. The route is mostly flat and should take approximately 10-15 minutes from the village center. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow local cycling regulations.
