Getting there

Car

If you're driving, head towards Gyöngyös, located in the heart of the Mátra Mountains. From the center of Gyöngyös, take Kossuth Lajos utca towards the north. Continue until you reach the intersection with Remete utca, where you will turn left. Follow Remete utca for about 2 kilometers until you see signs for Remete-barlang. There is a parking area nearby where you can leave your car. Note that parking may incur a small fee, so keep some change handy.

Public Transportation

If you're using public transportation, take a bus or train to Gyöngyös. The train station is centrally located, and buses frequently connect to various parts of the Mátra region. From Gyöngyös, you can take Bus 1708 towards Kékestető. Get off at the Remete utca stop. From the bus stop, walk north along Remete utca for about 2 kilometers until you reach Remete-barlang. Be sure to check the local bus schedules as they can vary, especially on weekends and holidays.

Hiking

For the more adventurous, you can hike to Remete-barlang from nearby trails in the Mátra Mountains. If you're starting from Kékestető, take the marked hiking trail that leads towards Gyöngyös. The trail is approximately 8 kilometers and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes and bring water, as the hike can be strenuous. Follow the signs to Remete-barlang once you get closer.
