Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest notable town, such as Esztergom. From Esztergom, take Route 10 towards Piliscsaba. Continue on this road for approximately 20 km until you reach the village of Pilisszántó. Once in Pilisszántó, look for the sign for 'Pilis Keresztjéhez vezető út'. Follow this road for about 1 km until you reach the Pilisszántó Cave, which will be on your right. Parking is available along the road.
Public Transportation
To reach Pilisszántó Cave via public transportation, take a train from Budapest to the nearby town of Pilisvörösvár. Trains run frequently, and the journey will take about 30 minutes. From Pilisvörösvár, you can catch a local bus (Bus number 840) heading towards Pilisszántó. The bus ride will take around 15 minutes. Once you arrive in Pilisszántó, walk along 'Pilis Keresztjéhez vezető út' for about 1 km to reach the cave. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as local bus services may have limited frequency.
Hiking
For the adventurous, you can hike to Pilisszántó Cave from nearby hiking trails in the Pilis Mountains. Start from the Piliscsaba trailhead, where you can find marked paths leading towards Pilisszántó. The hike is approximately 5 km and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Follow the signs for the Pilis Keresztjéhez leading you directly to the cave. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry water.
