Travel Guide to Sopron Mountains

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Sopron city center, start by heading southeast on Fő tér toward Szent György utca. Continue onto Szent György utca, which will lead you onto Várkerület. Follow Várkerület until you reach the intersection with Rákóczi Ferenc utca, and turn left. From there, continue to follow the signs directing you toward the Sopron Mountains. The journey should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Park your car at one of the designated parking areas near the mountain trails.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Sopron Mountains via public transportation, start at the Sopron Train Station (Sopron Vasútállomás). Take bus number 10 (or the relevant bus line that goes to the Sopron Mountains area) from the station. The bus usually departs every 30 minutes. Stay on the bus for about 20-30 minutes until you reach the stop closest to the Sopron Mountains, such as 'Soproni-hegyek'. From there, you may need to walk a short distance to access the trails. Be sure to check the current bus schedules, as they may vary.

• Walking

  If you prefer a more adventurous route and are starting from downtown Sopron, you can walk to the Sopron Mountains. Head out of the city center towards the south, following the signs for the Soproni-hegyek. The walk will take approximately 1-1.5 hours and will lead you through beautiful landscapes. Ensure you have comfortable footwear and bring water with you, as there are no facilities along the route.
