Car
If you are traveling by car, navigate to Gyula using GPS coordinates 46.645789, 21.2856821. From major cities in Southern Great Plain, such as Szeged or Békéscsaba, take Route 44 towards Gyula. Keep an eye out for signs indicating Gyula as you approach the town. Once you enter Gyula, follow local signs to the Gyula castle (Gyulai vár) located in the town center. There is parking available nearby, but be mindful of local parking regulations. Parking fees may apply, typically around 500 HUF for a few hours.
Public Transportation
To reach Gyula by public transportation, you can take a train or bus. If you're coming from Szeged, take a train from Szeged railway station to Gyula; the journey takes about 1.5 hours, and tickets cost approximately 1,200 HUF. Trains run several times a day. Upon arrival at Gyula train station, exit the station and catch a local bus (Bus number 2 or 5) that will take you to the city center. Alternatively, you can walk for about 20 minutes to reach the castle. If you are coming from Békéscsaba, a direct bus service is available, taking about 30 minutes for around 400 HUF.
