Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the city of Szombathely. Head east on Route 86 towards Sopron. After approximately 36 kilometers, take the exit towards Porva (8429). Follow the signs for Porva, which is about 18 kilometers from the exit. As you enter Porva, look for the signs leading to the Transdanubian Mountains. You can park your car in designated parking areas near hiking trails.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, begin your journey at the Szombathely train station. Take a train towards Sopron and get off at the Sopron train station. From Sopron, transfer to a regional bus heading to Porva. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once in Porva, you can either walk or take a local taxi to reach the Transdanubian Mountains, which are easily accessible from the town.
Taxi or Ride-sharing
If you prefer a more direct route from any location in Western Transdanubia, consider using a taxi or a ride-sharing service like Bolt or Uber. Simply provide the driver with the destination: 'Transdanubian Mountains, Porva, 8429'. The cost will vary depending on your starting point, but it generally ranges from 10,000 HUF to 20,000 HUF based on distance.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, cycling to the Transdanubian Mountains is an option. Rent a bicycle in cities like Szombathely or Sopron and follow the marked cycling paths towards Porva. The ride will take about 2-3 hours depending on your speed and route taken. Ensure you have a map or GPS for navigation, and be prepared for some hills as you approach the mountains.
