From the center of Borgarnes, head north on Aðalgata street towards the water. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Húsafellsgata. Turn left onto Húsafellsgata and follow it until you see the Borgarnes swimming pool on your right. Keep walking straight until you reach the end of the road where it meets Route 1. At this point, you will need to take a bus to reach Esjan, as it is not within walking distance.

To get to Esjan, you can take the local bus from Borgarnes to Reykjavík. The bus stop is located near the swimming pool. Board the bus heading to Reykjavík and ask the driver to let you know when you are near Esjan. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you're near Esjan, you will likely need to walk a short distance from the bus stop to the base of the mountain.
