Walking
From the center of Grindavik, start at the main square (Tjarnargata). Head southwest on Tjarnargata towards the coast. Follow the path along the coastline, enjoying the views. Continue on the path until you reach the intersection with Reykjanesbraut road. Cross the road carefully and continue on the designated walking path to your left, leading towards Háleyjarbunga. Follow the signs for the hiking trails that lead to Háleyjarbunga, which is approximately a 1.5 km walk from this point.
Public Transport
Catch the bus from the Grindavik bus terminal. Look for a bus heading towards Reykjanes Peninsula. Get off at the Reykjanesbraut stop. From there, follow the walking path along the coastline towards Háleyjarbunga, which is about a 2 km walk. Make sure to check the bus schedule beforehand as the service may not be frequent.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, rent one in Grindavik and start at the main square. Head southwest along Tjarnargata, then follow the coastal path towards Reykjanesbraut. Turn left onto the bike path that follows the main road towards Háleyjarbunga. The ride is approximately 3 km and offers beautiful coastal scenery.
