If you are driving, start from Húsavík town center. Head southwest on Aðalgata road towards the main highway (Route 85). After approximately 1.5 kilometers, turn left onto Route 87. Continue on Route 87 for about 6 kilometers. You will see a sign for Húsavíkurfjall. Follow the signs leading to the mountain access road. The road may become gravel, so be prepared for a rougher drive as you approach the base of Húsavíkurfjall. There is no direct parking at the summit, but you can park at a designated area near the hiking trailhead.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, check the local bus schedule in Húsavík. There may be limited services, so it’s advisable to confirm in advance. Take the bus towards Ásbyrgi and ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Húsavíkurfjall. From there, you will likely need to walk approximately 2 kilometers to the designated trailhead.
