If you are starting from the main area of Langjökull Glacier, drive southeast on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Reykholt. After approximately 12 km, turn left onto Route 518, which leads towards the Hvalfell area. Continue on Route 518 for about 8 km until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork to stay on the road leading towards Hvalfell. Drive for another 5 km until you see a sign for Hvalfell. The last part of the journey may involve unpaved roads, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for better accessibility.
