Car
From Akureyri, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading northeast. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 80 km until you reach Húsavík. Upon entering Húsavík, look for signs directing you to Heiðarbær. Turn right onto Route 87 towards Húsavík and then take a left onto Heiðarbær Road. Follow this road for about 5 km until you reach the campground. Note: Ensure your vehicle is equipped for Icelandic roads, especially if you are traveling in winter. There are no tolls on this route.
Public Transportation
From Akureyri, take a bus operated by Strætó (Bus Line 57) towards Húsavík. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Húsavík, you will need to take a taxi to Heiðarbær, which is about 5 km away from the bus stop. Taxis are available at the bus station, but it is advisable to pre-book by calling a local taxi service to ensure availability. The taxi fare typically ranges from 1,500 to 2,500 ISK.

If you are already in Húsavík and prefer a direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in the town to Heiðarbær. The journey is approximately 5 km and should cost between 1,500 to 2,500 ISK. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
