If you're traveling by car, start from Akureyri, the largest town in the Northeastern Region. Head southeast on Route 1 (Ring Road) towards Egilsstaðir. After approximately 66 km, take the exit towards Route 848. Follow Route 848 for about 10 km until you reach Skútustaðir. As you approach Skútustaðir, look for signs directing you to Hofdi, which is located at the coordinates 65.5789° N, 16.9560° W. The drive should take about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Public Transportation
To reach Hofdi via public transportation, take a bus from Akureyri to Egilsstaðir. The bus service is operated by Strætó. After arriving in Egilsstaðir, you will need to take a local taxi or arrange for a ride to Skútustaðir, as there is no direct public transport to Hofdi. The taxi ride from Egilsstaðir to Skútustaðir will take approximately 30 minutes and will cost around 8,000 ISK to 10,000 ISK.

If you are already in Skútustaðir, you can take a local taxi to Hofdi. Taxi services are available in the area, and the ride will take about 10 minutes. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before your trip; it should cost around 2,000 ISK to 3,000 ISK.
Walking
If you find yourself near Hofdi and prefer walking, there are designated paths leading to the nature preserve. From Skútustaðir, it's about a 2 km walk, which should take roughly 30 minutes. Follow the signs that direct you to Hofdi and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
