Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to Þjóðvegur (Route 1) in the Northeastern Region. Depending on your starting point, you may need to follow local highways to connect to Route 1. Once on Route 1, head towards Akureyri. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 35 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for the Sunset View Point, which is marked along the route. Turn onto the access road leading to the viewpoint. There is ample parking available, and the viewpoint is within a short walking distance from the parking area.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, check the current bus schedules that operate in the Northeastern Region. You will want to take a bus heading towards Akureyri. Once you arrive at Akureyri, you will need to transfer to a local bus that goes towards Þjóðvegur. Make sure to confirm that the bus stop is close to the Sunset View Point. Upon disembarking, it is advisable to check the walking distance to the viewpoint, which may involve a short hike depending on your drop-off point. Be aware of the bus schedules for your return trip, as they may not run frequently.
