Walking
Starting from the center of Olafsvik, head towards the coast on Strandgata street. Continue along this road until you reach the intersection with the Suðurgata street. Turn left onto Suðurgata and follow it until you see a sign for Hellissandur. This will take you out of Olafsvik and towards the coastal road. Continue walking for about 5 kilometers. You will pass through a scenic area with views of the sea and mountains. Keep an eye out for the signs directing you to Saxhóll Crater. Once you reach the area near Hellissandur, look for the entrance to the hiking trail leading to Saxhóll Crater. The trail is well-marked and will guide you to the crater itself.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, begin at the center of Olafsvik and head down Strandgata towards the coast. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Suðurgata. Turn left here and you will follow this road as it leads you out of Olafsvik and towards Hellissandur. The total distance is approximately 5 kilometers. Make sure to watch for traffic, as this route is shared with vehicles. As you approach Hellissandur, look for signs indicating the direction to Saxhóll Crater. Secure your bike at the trailhead and proceed on foot along the marked trail to reach the crater.

From the center of Olafsvik, locate the nearest bus stop and check the schedule for buses heading to Hellissandur. Buses may not run frequently, so make sure to plan your trip accordingly. Ride the bus until you reach the stop closest to Hellissandur. Upon disembarking, follow the signs towards Saxhóll Crater, which is about a 2-kilometer walk from the bus stop. The path is well-marked, and you can enjoy the natural scenery along the way.
