If you are already within Skaftafell National Park, the easiest way to reach Hundafoss is by walking. Start at the Skaftafell Visitor Center, which is the main hub for information and services in the park. From the Visitor Center, take the Svartifoss Trail. Follow the well-marked path through the beautiful landscape, which takes you past several points of interest. After approximately 2 kilometers, you will reach the Hundafoss waterfall. The hike should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace.

If you are driving to Skaftafell National Park, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) and follow the signs to Skaftafell. Once you arrive at the park, park your vehicle at the Skaftafell Visitor Center parking lot. From there, you will need to continue on foot. Follow the Svartifoss Trail from the Visitor Center, which is approximately 2 kilometers to Hundafoss. Remember that parking fees may apply, so check for the latest parking costs at the Visitor Center.

If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavík to Skaftafell. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes around 4.5 to 5 hours.
