Car
If you're driving in Skaftafell, head east on Route 1 (the Ring Road) from the Skaftafell Visitor Centre. After about 1.5 km, take the left turn onto Route 998, which leads directly into the Skaftafell National Park area. Continue for another 2 km until you see signs for the Svartifoss Trail. Park your car in the designated parking area, and the trailhead will be a short walk from there.
Public Transportation
If you're relying on public transportation, take the bus from Höfn or Vik to the Skaftafell bus stop. From the bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1 km to the Skaftafell Visitor Centre. Once at the Visitor Centre, follow the signs to the Svartifoss Trail. The trailhead is located just beyond the Visitor Centre, and you can easily access it from there.
