Getting There

Walking
Start from the center of Vík í Mýrdal. Head east on the main road, Route 1, towards the direction of the town's church. Continue walking for about 2.5 km until you reach a fork in the road where you will see a sign for Hjörleifshöfði. Take the left fork onto a gravel road. Follow this road for approximately 1 km until you see a parking area on your right. The Hjörleifshöfði trailhead is located just beyond the parking area. Look for the trail markers that will guide you into the hiking area.

Bicycle
From the center of Vík, rent a bicycle and start heading east on Route 1. After about 2.5 km, look for a fork in the road with a sign indicating Hjörleifshöfði. Take the left fork onto the gravel road. Continue biking for about 1 km until you arrive at a parking area on your right. The Hjörleifshöfði trailhead is located just past this parking area. You can lock your bike here before starting your hike.
