    From the center of Vík, start at the Vík í Mýrdal Church, located on a hill overlooking the town. Head down the hill towards Víkurbraut street. Once you reach Víkurbraut, turn left and walk along the road. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views on your way. You will pass by various shops and cafes, so you can stop if you wish. Keep an eye out for the Kötlusetur - Katla visitor centre, which will be on your right side as you approach. The centre is located at Víkurbraut, 870 Vík.

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Vík. Start from the rental shop and head towards Víkurbraut street. Follow the same path as walking; cycle along Víkurbraut for about 1.5 kilometers.
