Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    From the center of Coeur d'Alene, head to the local bus station located at 1917 N 4th St. Take the Kootenai County Public Transportation (Kootenai Health Route) bus towards Kootenai Health. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Kootenai Health. From there, transfer to the bus heading towards the city of Hayden. Ride the bus for about 20 minutes until you reach the stop near the intersection of Government Way and Lancaster Rd.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in downtown Coeur d'Alene. Start your journey on N 4th St heading north until you reach the intersection with Seltice Way. Continue straight onto Seltice Way, which will lead you directly towards the northern outskirts of Coeur d'Alene. Follow the bike lane along Seltice Way for about 6 miles, then turn left onto Government Way. Continue on Government Way for another 3 miles until you reach the entrance to Coeur d'Alene National Forest.

  • Walking

    For those who enjoy a longer walk, start from the Coeur d'Alene City Park located at 202 Lakeside Ave. Walk north along the waterfront on the paved walking trail. Follow the trail until you reach the end of the park and exit onto N 3rd St. Head north on N 3rd St until you reach the intersection with Ironwood Dr. Turn left onto Ironwood Dr and continue for approximately 2 miles. This will lead you to the edge of Coeur d'Alene National Forest. Note that this is a lengthy walk, so prepare accordingly.
