Start at the Coeur d'Alene Transit Center located at 105 N 1st St, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814. Take the Route 1 bus towards Hayden. Inform the driver you are headed to Rathdrum. The bus will take you along N Government Way and then onto ID-53. After approximately 30-40 minutes, get off at the stop closest to ID-53 and Rathdrum. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach Purcell Trench, following ID-53 north until you see the landmark on your left. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the exact times.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Coeur d'Alene. Start on N 4th St towards Prairie Ave, then turn onto Prairie Ave heading east until you reach Government Way. Follow Government Way north which will eventually lead you to ID-53. Continue on ID-53 heading north for approximately 10 miles. Be mindful of traffic as you ride along the highway. Purcell Trench will be on your left side.

Continue north on ID-53 for about 10 miles, and you will find Purcell Trench on your left. This is a strenuous walk, so ensure you are prepared with proper walking shoes and hydration.
