From downtown Sandpoint, start at the intersection of First Avenue and Cedar Street. Head north on First Avenue towards Lake Pend Oreille. Continue walking along First Avenue, which will lead you to the Sandpoint City Beach. Enjoy the scenic views of the lake as you walk. After about 0.5 miles, you will reach a trailhead that connects to the Gold Hill Trail. Follow the markers leading towards Gold Hill. The trail is well maintained and will guide you up to Gold Hill Trailhead.

If you have access to a bike, start at the Sandpoint Visitor Center located at 1202 Lake Street. Head east on Lake Street towards the lake. Turn left onto First Avenue. Follow First Avenue until you reach the Sandpoint City Beach. From there, you can pick up the bike path that leads towards the Gold Hill Trail. The bike path is scenic and offers beautiful views of the lake and surrounding nature. Continue along this path until you arrive at the Gold Hill Trailhead.
