Getting There

• Car

  If you are already in Snake River Canyon and are traveling by car, head towards Riggins, ID. From the center of Snake River Canyon, take the nearest road that leads to US-95 N. Continue on US-95 N for approximately 30 miles until you reach Riggins. Once you are in Riggins, follow the signs to the Lower Salmon River, which is located just outside of the town. The river access points are well marked, and you can find parking available near the riverbank.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a Greyhound bus to Riggins, ID. Check the Greyhound website for schedules and ticket prices. Once you arrive at the Riggins bus station, you can either walk or take a taxi to reach the Lower Salmon River, which is approximately 1.5 miles from the bus station. The taxi service may incur additional costs, so be sure to confirm the fare before your ride.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and would like to cycle, you can rent a bike in Riggins. Once you have your bike, head towards the Lower Salmon River by taking the road that leads west from downtown Riggins. Follow the road signs directing you to the river. The ride is about 2 miles and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

• Walking

  If you are staying in Riggins and want to walk to the Lower Salmon River, begin at the center of Riggins and head west on Main Street. After about 1.5 miles, you will reach the river access points. This walk offers a chance to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area, but be prepared for some uneven terrain as you get closer to the river.
