A Journey to Ernest Hemingway's Final Resting Place

Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the center of Sun Valley, near the Sun Valley Lodge. Head northeast on Sun Valley Road toward Ketchum. Continue walking for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with Main Street in Ketchum. Turn right onto Main Street and walk for another 0.5 miles. You will see a sign for Ernest Hemingway's Grave on the left side of the street just past the Ketchum Cemetery entrance. The grave is located within the cemetery, so you will need to enter the cemetery grounds.

• Biking

  If you are renting a bike in Sun Valley, start at the Sun Valley Village and head northeast on Sun Valley Road. Continue for approximately 1 mile until you reach Ketchum. At the intersection with Main Street, turn right and cycle about 0.5 miles. Look for the entrance to the Ketchum Cemetery on your left, where you will find the sign for Ernest Hemingway's Grave. Park your bike outside the cemetery and enter on foot to locate the grave.

• Public Transportation

  Find a local bus that services the Ketchum area. The Mountain Rides bus system operates routes throughout Sun Valley and Ketchum. Board the bus heading toward Ketchum and get off at the stop near Main Street. From there, walk north along Main Street for about 0.5 miles. The entrance to the Ketchum Cemetery, marked by a sign for Ernest Hemingway's Grave, will be on your left. Enter the cemetery to find the grave.
