Alchemy Tattoo & Gallery: Where Art Meets Skin
Experience the art of tattoo in a welcoming, inclusive space where creativity and transformation come to life. By appointment only.
Alchemy Tattoo & Gallery is more than just a tattoo studio; it's a haven for artistic expression and personal transformation located in a 137-year-old building in downtown Elgin. Founded by Amy Porter, Alchemy aims to provide a safe, beautiful, and professional environment for art collectors and those seeking meaningful body art. The studio distinguishes itself with a curated art gallery that showcases fine art and artist-created merchandise from resident tattoo artists and local talents. This includes wearable art, handcrafted items, original paintings, and high-quality prints. The gallery contributes to the studio's welcoming atmosphere, creating a space that feels more like a relaxing art studio than a typical intimidating tattoo parlor. Alchemy embraces inclusivity, welcoming all bodies in a judgment-free, LGBTQ+, and body-positive space. The studio's team of artists specializes in a variety of styles, including anime, neo-traditional, fine line, floral, and realism. Each artist has a private room, allowing for a more comfortable and personalized tattoo experience. Appointments are required, ensuring each client receives dedicated attention and a collaborative approach to bringing their vision to life.
