Al Capone's Chicago Manor, located at 7244 S Prairie Avenue, is a red-brick two-flat that served as one of the first Chicago homes of the notorious gangster. Built around 1905-1910, Capone purchased the building in 1923 for $5,500. He lived there with his wife Mae, their son, his mother Teresa, and siblings. The house provided a base for Capone's operations during the Prohibition era, though he spent much of his time at the Lexington Hotel. The building is a modest six-bedroom, two-bathroom residence in the Park Manor neighborhood. Despite its unassuming appearance, the house was a center of activity for the Capone family. Frank Capone's funeral was held there in 1924. Teresa Capone passed away in the house in 1952. The property remained in the Capone family until 1953 when it was sold to William B. Petty. Today, Al Capone's Chicago Manor stands as a reminder of Chicago's past. Although it is a private residence and not open for tours, visitors can view the exterior and imagine the life of the infamous gangster and his family.
