From downtown Galena, head east on Main Street towards the Galena River. Cross the river via the footbridge and continue onto Park Avenue. The Civil War Monument will be on your right at 515 Park Ave, within Grant Park. This is a short, scenic walk.
Public Transport
Jo Daviess County Transit provides public transportation within Galena. From various points in Galena, use the transit service to reach downtown, then follow the walking directions. A one-way fare is $0.50, but requires a 24-hour advance notice.
Taxi/Ride-Share
From any location in Galena, a taxi or ride-share service (such as Uber or Galena's General Express) can take you directly to the Civil War Monument at 515 Park Ave. The typical cost for a short trip within Galena ranges from $8 to $15.
Driving
From the Galena Territory, head north on Territory Drive until it merges into US-20 W. Take the exit towards Galena and merge onto US-20 W. After approximately 6 miles, take the exit towards Galena and turn right onto Main Street. Follow Main Street for about 1 mile until you reach Park Avenue. Turn left onto Park Avenue, and the Civil War Monument will be located on your right at 515 Park Ave. Parking is available along Park Avenue. Free parking is also available at the Depot Park lot on Bouthillier Street, a short walk from the monument.
