    From any location in Illinois Ozarks, head towards Alto Pass, IL. Use GPS navigation or a map application and enter 'Alto Pass, IL 62905' as your destination. If you’re coming from Carbondale, take IL-51 N for about 12 miles, then turn left onto IL-146 W. Follow IL-146 W for about 5 miles until you reach Alto Pass. Once in Alto Pass, look for signs indicating the Bald Knob Wilderness area which is located off of Bald Knob Road. The entrance to the wilderness area is approximately a mile from the main road.

    Public Transportation

From Carbondale, you would need to use a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) or a taxi to reach Alto Pass, as public transport options may be limited.
