Knoch Knolls Nature Center, located within the expansive Knoch Knolls Park in Naperville, Illinois, is a unique destination where the East and West Branches of the DuPage River converge. Opened in 2014, the center serves as a gateway to the natural world, offering a blend of environmental education and outdoor adventure for all ages. The Nature Center features interactive exhibits highlighting the ecology of the DuPage River and surrounding habitats. Visitors can explore displays on native wildlife, water conservation, and sustainable practices. A large freshwater tank showcases local fish species, while terrariums house reptiles and amphibians. Outside, over 5.5 miles of trails wind through woodlands, prairies, and along the riverbanks. These trails provide opportunities for hiking, biking, and observing wildlife. The park also includes a nature-themed playground, picnic areas, and a disc golf course. Knoch Knolls Park has a rich history, with the Naperville Park District acquiring the initial 115 acres in 1980, thanks to a donation from the Knoch family and a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant. In 2021, the park expanded with a donation of nearly 40 acres of open space, now known as the Frank Rus Preserve.
