Getting There

• Car

Then, take a right onto IL-78 N and continue for about 15 miles. Look for E Canyon Rd on your left. Turn left onto E Canyon Rd and follow it for about 1 mile. The entrance to Apple River Canyon State Park will be on your right at 8763 E Canyon Rd, Apple River, IL 61001.

• Public Transportation

  For public transportation, take a Greyhound bus or a regional transit service to the nearest city, such as Freeport, IL. From Freeport, you can use local taxi services or rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft to reach Apple River Canyon State Park. The distance from Freeport to the park is approximately 30 miles, so be prepared for a taxi fare that might cost between $50 to $70 depending on traffic and time of day.

• Bicycle

  If you're an adventurous cyclist, you can bike to Apple River Canyon State Park. Start on IL-20 W and follow the same route as if you were driving.
