If you're traveling by car, start from the Shawnee National Forest Visitor Center located at 50 Hwy 145 N, Harrisburg, IL 62946. Head south on IL-145 S for approximately 23 miles. Turn left onto IL-34 E and continue for about 6 miles. Turn right onto Bay Creek Wilderness Road, which is a dirt road leading into the wilderness. Follow this road until you reach the Bay Creek Wilderness area. There is no fee for parking.

Bike rentals may be available in Harrisburg, starting at around $20 per day.
