Rani Sipri Ki Masjid, located in the old city of Ahmedabad, is a historical mosque commissioned in 1514 by Queen Sipri, the Hindu wife of Sultan Mahmud Begada. Also known as Masjid-e-Nagina (Jewel of a Mosque), it showcases a unique blend of Indo-Islamic architecture. The mosque's architecture features intricate jali carvings with floral motifs, reflecting a fusion of Islamic and Hindu styles. The play of light and shadow created by the jali work adds to the mosque's serene ambiance. The mosque is a relatively small structure, measuring 54 ft long, 24 ft broad, and rising to a height of 50 ft. Notable features include the minarets, with the base of the southeast minaret carved in a Hindu style. Inside, there is a separate area for women to worship. Rani Sipri commissioned the mosque after a tragic event. Both the queen and king executed their son for an offense. The mosque is also the burial site of Queen Sipri.
