Jallianwala Bagh Centenary Memorial: A Testament to Sacrifice

Jallianwala Bagh stands as a solemn reminder of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also known as the Amritsar Massacre, which occurred on April 13, 1919. On that day, British troops opened fire on a large crowd of unarmed Indians gathered in the garden. Hundreds were killed, and many more were injured in the indiscriminate firing.Today, Jallianwala Bagh serves as a memorial to those who lost their lives. The site features several memorials, including the Martyr's Well, where many jumped to escape the bullets, and a flame-shaped monument. Bullet marks are still visible on the walls, serving as a grim reminder of the tragedy. The site also houses a museum and gallery displaying portraits and stories of freedom fighters.Visitors can walk through the garden, reflecting on the events of 1919 and paying homage to the martyrs.
