Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, the most common route to Tawang War Memorial is from Guwahati, Assam. From Guwahati, take National Highway 27 towards Tezpur. From Tezpur, continue on NH 13 to Bomdila, which is approximately 100 km away. After Bomdila, follow the road signs to Tawang, which is around 100 km further. The Tawang War Memorial is located just a few kilometers before the main town of Tawang, near the village of Baisakhi. The coordinates are approximately 27.586816° N, 91.8768571° E. Ensure your vehicle is well-prepared for the hilly terrain and carry water and snacks for the journey.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Guwahati to Tawang. Look for buses heading to Bomdila or Tawang at the Guwahati bus station. The buses to Tawang usually leave in the morning and take around 12-14 hours, depending on road conditions. Once you arrive in Tawang, you can hire a local taxi to take you to the Tawang War Memorial, which is about 5 km away from the town center. The taxi fare should be around ₹200-₹300.

• Shared Taxi

  Another option from Guwahati is to take a shared taxi to Tawang. These can be found at designated taxi stands. They are faster than buses and can take around 10-12 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions. Shared taxis typically leave once they are full, so it may take some time to fill up.
